Helping the Helper for Staff

Helping the Helper is aimed at staff and volunteers. This programme introduces and explores the symptoms and consequences of compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, and burnout. Gaining an understanding of what these conditions are, and how they differ from each other increases the ability to be proactive in acting to minimise risk. Helping the Helper also focuses heavily on the importance of strong practical self-care practices, because they support resilience and overall well-being.

Helping the Helper for Leaders

The Helping the Helper for Leaders programme covers the Helping the Helper content from a leadership and organisational perspective. Leaders learn the ability to identify signs and symptoms of compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma in themselves and their staff/teams. Content explores how organisations are at risk of inadvertently creating an environment which places the workforce at risk of developing these conditions. Organisational prevention strategies and what leadership can do to decrease risk to themselves and their people are included.
